POMORIE

The town of Pomorie is located on a narrow rocky peninsula, which is indented 3,5 km into the Black Sea, 20 km from Bourgas and 18 km from Sunny Beach, with a population of about 14,500 citizens.
   The town was founded in 4 c. BC by a salty lake, called by the Slavs “sacred” because of its curative properties.
   Pomorie – this is a heavenly place on the Black Sea, combining romance and cosiness that are characteristic only for the small towns. The resort Pomorie has unique natural location, which makes it an attractive place for all-year-round recreation and rehabilitation – a magnet for tourists from many countries.
   The favourable natural conditions provide for the long period for recreation from May to October. The weather conditions are exceptionally favourable:

continuous sunshine, up to 2360 hours annually,

the average temperature of the air and the water in July is 23.6°С.

the consecutive winds (breezes) form the sea to the land and from the land to the sea freshen the air rhythmically.
   In the morning the air is rich in ozone and anions, ultraviolet rays and iodine emitted by the seaweed.
   Because of the slow cooling of sea water, the autumn is warm and long.
   The snowfall is minimal and the snow holds for no more than 5 -7 days.
   The average temperature in spring is 14°С. These weather indices allow the use of the resort from early spring to late autumn for sun-cure and sea-cure, and the fruit and vegetable belt of 17,200 decares vineyards, 2,200 decares orchards and 800 decares vegetable gardens surrounding Pomorie provide the exuberance of fruits and vegetables.
   It has been categorically proved that the qualities of the firth mud from Pomorie, yielded from the salty lake, place it among the best in the world.
   The town of Pomorie has modern sanitarium base, in which disease of the locomotor system, as well as gynaecological, surgical and traumatic, dermatological, of the peripheral nervous system, non-specific diseases of the respiratory system, cardiovascular, liver and other disease are cured all year long.
    In the resort Pomorie the coast is low, sandy, with completely open horizon to the east and west, and defended to the north by Stara Planina.
   A beach line with area of 18,700 m?, length of 7 km and rich in iron sand encompasses the Pomorie bay.
   Here the beach and the sea are a part of the lively town environment, which ensures exceptional attractiveness.
   The moles outside the swimming zones divert the cold currants. The shallow and even coastal shelf, with slight slant and no reefs and cold currents is safe for swimming.
   The town of Pomorie offers its guests all amenities required for a calm family vacation. A number of establishments for catering and additional services, the excellent qualification and the politeness of the staff create conditions for the tourists to feel at home.
   There are convenient transport communications connecting Pomorie with other towns and resorts, and the airport in Bourgas is only 8 km away.
   The proximity of Sunny Beach and the district centre Bourgas increases the possibilities for entertainment. The aquatic area of the Pomorie bay is a favourite for tall ship races, and the harbour – a favourite place for the amateur anglers.
   In addition to the traditional means of livelihood of the local population - viticulture, wine production, salt production and fishing, tourism and the accompanying activities are establishing themselves as the new face in the economy of the increasingly attractive balneological and sea resort Pomorie.
